Ms. Araki joined BMC Group in 1999, and brings extensive experience working in the Debtor-side of restructuring, along with in-depth expertise in managing complex non-bankruptcy litigation cases.
Before joining BMC Group, Ms. Araki was employed as a bankruptcy paralegal with Jeffer, Mangels, Butler & Marmaro LLP (JMBM) in Los Angeles for five years. During this time, she worked as the sole paralegal on several complex cases including Standard Brands Paint Co., Rampage Clothing, Angelus Furniture Outlet, Inc. and other Chapter 11 cases in the manufacturing, distribution and hotel industries.
Prior to JMBM, Ms. Araki was as a bankruptcy paralegal at Levene & Eisenberg (L&E) in Los Angeles for four years. While at L&E, she handled several complex cases including Bruce McNall and other Chapter 11 cases in the manufacturing, distribution and entertainment industries.
During her four-year tenure as a bankruptcy and litigation paralegal at Foley, Maehara, Judge, Nip & Chang, Honolulu (FMJNC), Ms. Araki led the paralegal team on several large bankruptcy cases, such as Air Hawaii, Discovery Airlines and several other complex litigation cases, including United States of America vs. Oahu Refuse Systems, Inc. (anti-trust litigation); a RICO action initiated by the Chapter 11 Trustee of Air Hawaii against former officers and directors, and several large construction defect cases.
At BMC Group, Ms. Araki is a project manager and worked on various types of cases such as eToys, Inc., Met-Coil Systems Corporation, and Chiquita Brands International, Inc. She has contributed to many other cases, including Musicland, TWA, Exide and Teligent. She is currently managing the asbestos property damage claims in the WR Grace bankruptcy case.
